Hello! I’m Amy

Mum, midwife, maternal and child health nurse, lactation consultant and founder of Parent.ed.

Becoming a parent is profound.

It’s true when they say, ‘the birth of your child is one of the most important moments in your life’. Big hey?! Yet, so many expectant parents are inundated with misinformation and opinions. There is so much noise!

What is also true is, ‘how you are made to feel during pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and early parenthood really matters’.

I believe every expectant parent deserves current, evidence-based and unbiased education whilst preparing for their birth, breastfeeding and parenthood. Better than that, all parents have a right to transition into family life feeling confident, dignified and empowered.

So Parent.ed was born!

After working with families for 14 years, Parent.ed hopes to cut through the noise by offering Calmbirth® childbirth education, breastfeeding education workshops and resources to support your postpartum and early family life.

You cannot practise labour and birth, however you can prepare!

‘With knowledge comes confidence’ - Calmbirth® is Australia’s most highly acclaimed, recommended and scientifically proven childbirth education program. Calmbirth® is an immersive group experience held over 2 days learning the psychology and physiology of birth, tools for your labour and birth and conscious parenting.

Calmbirth® courses with Amy are located in Melbourne.

Optimal timing to attend a Calmbirth® course is between 26 - 36 weeks pregnant.

After caring for many women experiencing breastfeeding challenges in the early days, weeks and months as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse, I undertook further study for additional qualifications in lactation. In 2017, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and recently re-certified this qualification in 2022. I am so excited to now offer an educational workshop tailored to expectant parents who plan to breastfeed.

Workshops are held online every month.

Optimal timing to attend breastfeeding education is between 32 - 40+ weeks pregnant.

Amy was flawless. She demonstrated such incredible knowledge, and delivered the information in a really engaging way. It was a great combination of a warm and enthusiastic delivery with no fluff - every piece of information was important. My birth partner and I really enjoyed Amy's approach; she made everyone feel welcome and created a trusting, safe environment for questions and comments. Thank you so much Amy - you really made the whole experience special and because of you, our expectations of 'birth class' were certainly exceeded!

  • Calmbirth® couple - 2023

Calmbirth® with Amy was like sitting down with a friend for coffee. Amy was warm, engaging and so easy to listen to and learn from. Amy is exceptionally knowledgeable, up to date with current practice and best-evidence and an experienced and passionate midwife and educator. Amy delivers information in a non-biased manner designed to empower individual couples to make informed decisions regarding their birth, no matter what course their birth takes on the day. Amy was able to powerfully transform my fears and hesitation around childbirth into excitement and feelings of empowerment. I know I will be an active participant in my birth and that I have the tools to have a positive birth no matter what challenges may come our way.

  • Calmbirth® couple - 2023

Even though I had done plenty of research about the birth process I was surprised by how much I learnt during Amy's Calmbirth® course. My partner enjoyed how accessible all the information was, he mentioned that Amy's personality and positivity genuinely made him a lot calmer about the upcoming labour. He's even looking forward to it! We really enjoyed the education about the labour stages and practical tips for being in the hospital. We also really appreciated the focus on the fourth trimester and the chance to ask questions, which we weren't expecting in a birth course.
